Usually safe in small doses
- Paracetamol for short-term fever or pain
- Oral rehydration salts (ORS) for dehydration
- Simple antacids for occasional acidity
Avoid without a doctor
- Antibiotics — wrong choice fuels resistance
- Steroids, including 'skin lightening' creams
- Sleeping pills, anti-anxiety tablets, strong painkillers
