How to check medicine authenticity by photo

Use your phone camera to verify a medicine pack in seconds. Learn what a photo-based authenticity check can and cannot do.

You don't need a lab to spot most fakes — a clear photo of the pack is enough to flag the obvious problems.

What a photo check looks at

  • Brand and generic name spelling
  • Manufacturer name, address and license number
  • Batch number, manufacturing date and expiry date
  • Print quality, alignment and tamper seals

How to take a good photo

Use daylight, lay the pack flat, fill the frame, and include both the outer carton and the strip. Avoid flash glare on holograms.
