Can you take two medicines together safely?

A quick guide to checking whether two medicines mix — including common Indian combinations that don't.

Sometimes the combination is safer than each pill alone. Sometimes it's dangerous. Always check before mixing.

Combinations to be careful with

  • Two painkillers — paracetamol + ibuprofen is usually fine; two NSAIDs together is not
  • Antibiotics + antacids — can block absorption
  • Blood thinners + aspirin or ibuprofen — bleeding risk
  • BP tablets + cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine
